I've asked multiple times. Got one approval and a good number of rejections. There isn't much risk as long as you're respectful when asking and don't come across as complaining. They might and probably will say no, but you shouldn't lose your job over it if you do it right.
Thank you! Appreciate this
That's not really risky. All you need to do is make a good case for yourself. Point out that you've grown in our role, and you're a more valuable employee now than you were when your salary was set. If you bring up market rates that may not be effective, some companies won't entertain a discussion focused on what other people are making. So making it about yourself and your value to the organization might be a better strategy.
Makes sense! Thank you
It doesn’t hurt to ask but one thing to keep in mind is most market data is based on job titles. Companies may use the same title but depending on size and complexity of company the hours and responsibilities could be very different resulting in pay differences. For that reason most companies do not take market data seriously and will only factor it in if you have an outside offer for a comparable role.
Thank you! This really helps.
