I need some advice! I have a fairly new employee who reports to me but was working on a project under someone else. She was removed from the project because she missed 2 deadlines (partly because she was having troubles and didn’t ask for help and partly because she was out sick two times but didn’t update any work notes so someone else could take over). She also had some inaccuracies in what she did do but not sure how great the instructions were from the project leader. What would you do?

I’m my partners only associate and I went on parental leave two weeks ago. I feel horrible for leaving him to handle our cases alone, but am trying to focus on my wife and new baby. That being said, should I still offer to handle minor matters that come in to ease the workload off my boss? He’s been super cool during my entire leave, so I don’t feel pressured to one bit.

How do you win back a partner’s trust after making careless errors (e.g., misstating case law)

I’ve been working for a small investment firm for about a year and am having some issues with my boss. We have a weekly check-in but he’s ALWAYS 2-3 hours late, or skips the meeting altogether without warning. He also never replies to any of the emails I send. I already spoke with him about these issues, but things haven’t really changed. I really like the work I do but I’m starting to feel frustrated about the situation. Any advice?
