No probably not…the last company (start up) would be asked for your leaving and them saying you quit would automatically disqualify you.
But you can always apply, I can be wrong.
Yes, but I cited health reasons to the startup as well.
If you voluntarily quit your job without just cause, you may not be eligible for EI benefits. But there are exceptions if you quit due to health reasons or if your work conditions became unsafe or unbearable. This would be considered "just cause."
I’m getting a surgery done and since this was an early stage startup, they couldn’t provide any healthcare benefits. Therefore, I’m traveling to my home country to get the surgery done. Would this qualify as just cause to apply for EI?
Possibly. Call EI and ask or just apply online, and they will assess.
