My birthday will always be treated as a holiday. Working on the day the world was blessed with my presence is a no-go 😂

I've never taken a day off for my birthday. I am grateful to be alive, but birthday's get exponentially less exciting to celebrate after about age 12, save for 21 and then the decades.
I always take my birthday off

I usually take the week of my birthday off and go on vacation… we just got back from Turks & Caicos… my birthday is smack in the middle of Christmas and the start of summer… so it’s a good time to take off and relax a bit…
My birthday falls near Thanksgiving so I take off every year as part of an extended Thanksgiving holiday.
Request that your birthday not be shared or celebrated for religious or personal reasons. I have direct reports who have done so, and my leadership team respects their requests. And yes, I usually take off the nearest Friday to make a 3-day weekend.
I always take my birthday off and sometimes I'll take the entire week off.
I'm a chill inside read a book kind of girly ;)
My b-day is July 4th. I've spent my adult life telling friends & Co-workers to enjoy the day. I don't call out my b-day. I try to uplift & inspire my peers. It's not about me.
My birthday is the day after Christmas. Awful as a kid with the combo gifts. Awesome as an adult because I’m usually off.

Oh, and I'm sorry your parents couldn't spend 5 minutes on a card and small token gift for your birthday, and I'm sorry that was so awful for you.

I absolutely take my birthday off every year! I love spending the day doing things just for me :)
Except for Basic Training and Warrant Officer Candidate School, I've not worked on my birthday since I was 16. It's not about celebrating it, it's about taking the time off and doing whatever the hell I want as a means of maintaining my own mental health.
There’s a person at my work who not only takes the day off, but ensures that everyone knows when her birthday is. We all got calendar invites…even new people when they join the team. We also get invites for her half birthday. It’s nuts. Can’t you just do your job?
Oh she definitely has people at home, because she shares all that she does with photos and party invites. Her whole family and neighborhood feeds into it.
I would do so, only if it was on a Monday or Friday and if you have the weekend off. Otherwise, I agree, don't tell them it's your birthday.
Depends on how I feel that year and if I have the time off to cover it.
My birthday is between Thanksgiving and Christmas, so I usually opt for taking an extended break during one of those holidays.
