I recently joined IBM and I learned we only get 8 vacation days and 2-3 personal holidays and this is the same upto 10 years of tenure. IBM does not give a lot of firm holidays unlike other Consulting and Tech firms like Deloitte, EY, Google, etc. that typically give you generous/unlimited PTO or even have the whole week of July 4th and last week of Dec off. Why is IBM lagging behind culturally in this aspect?

I have been at my current firm for about 1.5 years, and in that entire time the partner in my group hasn't been out of the office a single time. Is that normal? How long is too long to try to push back a start date? Getting a formal offer early next week but trying to keep that big law bonus if possible. Firm pays out bonuses Dec 30 & I have a vacation scheduled Dec 19-23 (and was planning on working remotely the week after too). Ideally want to get EOY bonus or negotiate for a signing bonus but is it too much to push for signing bonus and those weeks off? I'm open to working remotely those two weeks but know that may not be the best when I start.
