I am looking to switch into the strategy consulting industry. I have been working in the tech domain for almost 3 yrs now. 2 years in NY and 1 currently in India. I have completed my masters degree from the US.I would like to pivot into strategy. Currently working for a boutique healthcare consulting firm within the analytics practice. Looking for referrals in McKinsey & Company Bain & Company Boston Consulting Group Kearney Oliver Wyman. Looking for guidance from the community.

If they did this, I'd go right to HR to request reasonable accommodation for your medical issues. And I would say things like, "I didn't expect to be discriminated against in my first week....I had no reason to request reasonable accommodation but it appears the job description has changed. Can you help me understand why this changed so much? I detrimentally relied on hiring manager/the company's promises of the job being X and now it's Z. I left a goid job to come here. Let's figure out how Company can spport my diagnosis of ABC."
Then let them scramble. I don't normally advocate using veiled litigation threats, but this company is trash. Make them pay you to leave. And regardless, rake them over on Glassdoor. There is no future for you at this company so get $ and get out.
Thanks! This is exactly what I did. They asked if I was asking to separate and I said no. What they are doing is asking another directior if my skills would be a good fit for a role in their department. I also asked about the signing bonus to which they said they wouldn't make me pay back since I'm not quitting. They are pretty immature from a legal perspective, but I do think they realize to some extent that this could put them in hot water.
I am sorry this happened to you.
Personally I think I would be honest, and that gives me a good leeway to emphasize my stand on travel.

I don't think you did anything wrong, but next time you could ask for no travel to be specifically included in your offer letter so you can bring that to HR if it happens again.

Eh, if you're at will an offer letter doesn't do much for you either.
