I report to the CEO, been with the company for 15 years. He doesn't know how to utilize a CoS and in addition to managing his top tier projects/programs, consulting to him, proofing everything of his, etc (full time job) he keeps putting departments under me when he doesn't have a good leader to run them. Glad for the trust but significantly gets in the way of what I need to do. Is that normal for CoS? Been thinking of leaving but I'm at $250k and not sure if I'll get that much as CoS elsewhere.

They have mentioned I would make a great CoS based on my prev experience & could see me being a COO in the next 10 yrs. After playing back our last meet, I realise the CEO was trying to tease out of me/get me to probe on interest for CoS role.
