Disney Streaming Services I completed my interview process with DSS early last week, and was reached out by recruiter that all rounds were strong hires, and they are extending an offer. We set a time to talk on Friday about the offer. However, the announcement of targeted hiring freeze happened on Friday. I was ghosted with no call. What should I expect now? Would I still have chance to be offered?

A buddy of mine at McKinsey and I actually recently talked about this -
We agreed it’s more common to see at the big4 level because the big4 don’t tend to pay tenured employees as well as experienced hires, which isn’t as true with MBB
Ie a MBB exp hire won’t usually make more than a homegrown MBB, which can’t be said for big4, which is why people tend to bounce around...for money
i think people move across B4 because they’re a lot less transparent with comp than MBB and play games with tenured employees. so most moves are for pay.
MBB all pay about the same and base pay is a lot more standardized, so the main reason people move in B4 isn’t a factor at MBB unless you’re at a level where pay is highly
variable (e.g. partner). but most partners at all firms are richly rewarded for their efforts and tend to not move around as much anyway - would probably be for promo (e.g. junior partner at McK goes to bain, which happens to have a more fledgling practice in their area of expertise in exchange for full partnership + higher comp).
so a homegrown at MBB makes more than experienced hire? I thought MBB has fixed bands and variability was in bonus- which was dependent on performance
I’m saying that since there’s fixed bands at MBB, exp hires and homegrown make the same (aside from bonus)
I’ve seen it only at the principal / partner level. BCG grabbed an ex-McK partner to lead a turnaround practice while I was there.
I've also seen a couple of people make the switch in b-school, but I imagine they weren't sponsored
I’ve seen it happen. I think it’s usually for fit/career interests. Or if you got counseled out of one you shoot your shot with another
Yes, people do it for culture as well as exposure to certain types of work (e.g, proportionately Bain does more DD work). Definitely a lot less common though because it’s not a financially motivated decision.
