The stigma is that it will torch your career but realistically it will not. I encourage you to speak up and get help. At the very least go to your chaplain.
If there is anything I've discovered throughout my career life, it would be to never ever put your career before your emotional, physical, and spiritual well-being.
I'm so happy to see the encouragement and support for seeking mental health help!
This wasn't what I saw 10 years ago and I love it!
Me too. I am glad that people are more open now. A few years ago, mental health seems like a taboo. Glad we are evolving.
I’ll add, don’t be like me. I waited 16 years into my career and a mental breakdown to get help. It’s not worth it. I promise. Go talk to someone. Military onesource is a great resource.
Woah. 16 years-- that's a long time. But glad that you were able to seek help.
It shouldn’t torch anything for you to take care of yourself. If your command tries to burn you take it to IG.
Ah okay. Was asking because I work with some peeps with SOCOM now and we might know each other.
chat up new ppl bro u got big name job on weekdays and fly on weekends for money instead of money pit that gon impress most ppl
bet either job drops panties at the other too
bottom line up front, keep some help.
i would not trust anyone to do the right thing for you.
you might get grounded and flagged, but... it's better to talk with someone. you should be able to find a therapist under the radar.
i completely understand what you're going through.
try taking an honest assessment of your mental health by using an azimuth check. go to the website and be honest. someone will get back to you and ask more information, but will give you options.

Go outside to get help. Meaning a private civilian doc. The stigma is real even now. But above all take good care of yourself especially if it means seeking professional help.

I am going to go through onesource
I'm really glad you chose to ask for other people's insights instead of keeping it all to yourself. You're asking if it will torch your career, well in all honesty, yes. But I don't think it would be as bad as you think. It's better to prioritize your mental health than to pour from an empty cup.
We may not be in the same storm but we're definitely on the same boat, OP. I once left a job to focus on my mental health. The previous job really pushed me over the edge. But my current job is all I could ask for. We're meant for something better.
These comments are the best sight I've seen today. This is what this community is all about. Indeed, we don't have this kind of support 10 years ago so it's very refreshing. Bless your hearts.
OP, I see you work at Deloitte - consider making use of the integrated mental health services benefit if you qualify. 8 free therapy sessions per year per issue. I’ve used it myself and found that to be super helpful
A lot of commands will put you on orders now to get you help. Which is helpful because if your civilian career is impacted it will help resolve. There has been a lot more attention on the realities of depression and suicide. Particularly with the army and it's other components because of the high suicide rate in the military.

Thanks y’all I really appreciate all of the information / kind thoughts
Of course! We are here for you. You are not alone in this battle.
You don't have to sacrifice your mental health for your career. I know you've been doing that for years. This is your chance to focus on your wellbeing, grab the chance.
What’s more important? Your life or your career?
It doesn't have to be the end of your career. I'd find a doctor and therapist as soon as possible to get the help you need. Do you feel like you can hang in there while seeking help, or do you feel like you need to put everything on hold to get help?
I’d be interested to follow your experience as I’m in a similar boat. But the resources provided above are solid.
Hey. What you feel is totally valid. Take a break if you must, your mental is as important as your physical health.
