I turn 40 couple of years ago. Got laid off last December. As soon as i turned 40 l started feeling like I am more closer to my grave now so what is the point of being ambitious. I dont see any point in achieving anything more or being ambitious not that l achieved much so far)
Currently jobless and feel i should just retire. Do any other 40+ people feel same way? Do you still feel ambitious? still get kicks by achieving things?
Or have you all hung up your coats

Not sure i would do it at 40 but a decade later and yes. Commiserate. Keep in mind you need healthcare which can be expensive. Perhaps you're burnt out in your current career and you can switch to something you'd enjoy with health insurance? Or with set hours and health insurance.

You feel like you should just retire? So this is a very realistic option for you at 42? If I could confidently retire so young, I would just find things that spark my interest and do that instead.

You can “retire” from the rat race and keep on doing things you enjoy doing outside of work. Retire doesn’t have to be laying on a couch all day.

What does an exit from Salesforce consulting look like? I’m in a technical role leading a small team so my understanding is a technical/solution architect or a development team lead at either Salesforce or an end user like Amazon/Amex.

I have bounced around a couple consulting companies so would prefer not to do it again. Total 4 YOE.

I don’t think I have enough YOE to go for a program architect role at SF otherwise I’d be interested.

Need career advice. Trying to break into a finance role, preferably an Analsyt role but I have no transferable experience. I worked as a mortgage loan officer (which is sales) for 2 years after college, but since mortgage is such a niche industry, no hard skills transfer and have no relevant undergrad internships unfortunately. I know I can essentially get any sales job I want in finance IE: financial advisor etc. but don’t want to be stuck in sales forever. Any advice?

Looking for some advice on a couple of offers I have.

The first offer is for an Account Executive position at a smaller company with a base of $50k and another $20k in OTE.

The second offer is for a BDR position at a larger and faster growing company with a base of $60k and another $20k in OTE. Also some stock options but they aren’t public yet.

I have 2 YOE as a BDR and think I could succeed in either position. Both have hybrid work set ups. Any thoughts or advice is appreciated! Thanks.
