I recently was a contractor but the lack of PTo and benefits is tough to swallow
Absolutely, the trade-off between pay and benefits is real. Some contractors factor it into their rate, but it can still sting when PTO or health coverage is missing.
I prefer contracting, but I’ve noticed that some product companies view it with suspicion on a resume. Investing heavily in a contracting career might limit other opportunities, so it’s something to keep in mind if you want to work at a product company in the long run.
That’s a fair point. Contracting can be a double-edged sword for product roles. Balancing higher pay now versus long-term opportunities is definitely something to consider.
