I want to get a joint credit card with my SO. She currently has the AMEX gold. I have chase sapphire reserve. We want to keep our own individually, but want a join one. Which should we do? Would love to open another reserve under both our names because of travel rewards but we would be paying like $1000 per year in fees for three cards. Any ideas?

One of you should add the other as an authorized user of your current card

With Amex, AUs (Authorized Users) can have a spending limit set up. Or otherwise the primary owner can activate/deactivate the card at any time

All it takes is your SSN and Amex will ship out an AU card within a day

like

continueing: If you don't end up just using an existing credit card, I'd still recommend the AU approach over a joint account.

You or your SO could just open an entirely new card and add the other as an AU, then you both agree to just use those cards for shared spending

What is the rationale for having a joint one? Feel like that affects the best option. I can’t see any scenario in which it makes sense to have two of the same card though.

like

Amex Blue has 6% back on gas and groceries (I believe) which seems a better card for those needs. And if I recall it a $99/year fee and allows an AU.

CapitalOne Venture X as the joint. The credits pay for the card itself and it’s better than Sapphire Reserve.

My first choice is Amex Platinum, but the AF is pricey

like

I just went through this exact same situation! But he had a venture card and I had chase platinum, so we opened the Amex gold as the joint card. I looked through so many cards and was focused on restaurant and grocery rewards. Ended up with Amex but second choice card was citi premier if you want to look into that. The sign up bonus and rewards categories are good and the fee is low, my only concern was they don’t have many travel partners in their portal so wasn’t sure how useful all those points would be

But I’m planning on downgrading the reserve to a no fee card and opening up a new preferred card for the lower fee and sign up bonus, I think it will work since I’ve had the reserve for over 4 years

Finally found THE one, after over a year of searching and trying out at least 5 different ones!

A nice comfortable office chair.

https://ergochair.co/collections/chairs/products/ergonomics-mesh-chair-w-adjustable-headrest-and-armrest?variant=32511617597491

My criteria: mesh seat and back, arms, headrest

I tried cheap ones from Amazon. Expensive, second hand gaming chairs. Tried HM Aeron (second hand) and while I didn't like the bulk and the general design, I was sold on the mesh seating. I wanted to get the ErgoChair 2 from autonomous, but it doesn't have mesh seat.

AMA.
