Derm here. Please go in person and get evaluated by a Derm. Need to evaluate the type of acne scars you have — Boxcar vs Rolling vs Icepick. Different scars are treated differently. Most derms offer free consultation if you decide to proceed with treatment.
Dermabrasion was what worked for me since my acne scars weren't as deep. I suggest going to the doctor personally so they can assess your skin's needs properly.
Virtual appointments are a waste of time for me. I got my virtual consultation before and I still had to get assessed once I got to the clinic, so just go straight to the dermatologist.
Seeing a dermatologist in person can provide you with a more personalized and efficient treatment plan as they will be able to assess your skin issues more clearly.
A thorough skin assessment is a crucial component of our procedure. This kind of examination cannot be carried out using most computer cameras or a cell phone.
An in-person consultation would be more advisable since the dermatologist would get to see the scarring firsthand and judge which treatment to perform on your skin
Pretty sure no cream is going to fix your acne scars. I had dermabrasion and that worked (not MICRO-dermabrasion). Co2 ablative laser treatment might work. TCA cross chemical treatment. Otherwise, nothing will help (unless it’s just discoloration- then just ask for tretinoin 🤷🏻♀️)
so my laser lady in DC had this machine, I wanna say it was called Pexel? I had SEVERE acne scars before (like, the doctor would flinch) and these were stubborn areas like my back. A couple sessions with the Pexel, and they lightened by about 70%. It was amazing
What dermatologist was this?
In person for sure so they can get a good look at your scares and determine best treatment. Good luck!
It's way better to do it in person. The main reason is that your doctor can precisely check your skin and its texture. And with dermatological works, it is important.
The first time I went to see my dermatologist for my acne problem, she had to touch my face (with gloves on) to take a look and study everything closely.
I think virtual appointments for skin concerns are not that effective just because your doctor really can't see your skin's condition personally.
I think the virtual appointment would be fine for the initial check-up. But you will still need to have a in-person check-up with your dermatologist.
If you want your skin condition to be treated properly and effectively, go with the in-person check-up. That way, your doctor can better asses you and your skin.
I tried using different products on my face. I regret it so much. My latest breakout forced me to visit a derm.
