I want to know if I'm taking things said to heart too much. My direct boss and the boss above them have repeatedly informed me they push me and ask me to do much more than other people in my position. Their reasoning is that they have to be gentle and nicer to the other two because of age and ethnic reasons. They are allowed to have extremely flexible schedules and work outside of our regular business hours, I'm not, and aren't required to handle similar workloads.

That is fine as long as you get paid more

I was not able to negotiate my hourly rate, but I've been (verbally) promised that I'll get a good bonus towards the end of this year.

High performers get asked to do more because of their competence. They generally end up with more successful careers.

like

I think this is also generally true.

Its also your job to make sure you don't get taken advantage of for being a high performing. If you don't progress faster or get better bonus or raise, then you need to take action. Which may mean moving onto another job.

The only reward for good work is more work. Make sure you're figuring out how to advance your position and pay accordingly, but it is a marathon and not a sprint so don't get too discouraged over temporary things... conversely don't let the temporary things become permanent... and the only way to have the perspective to know which is which is more experience, so yeah, good luck :) - you'll probably be fine if they are acknowledging they are giving you more work unless they are low character people.

like

Agreed, working hard is generally noticed. Just make sure you not being taken advantage weather on purpose or by accident.

Crowe is hiring for quite a few positions across the US (Internal Audit, IT controls and cyber/digital security, Compliance, etc)… I’m a manager and would think some of these niche areas have great opportunity for new folks to excel rather quickly. Great flexibility and mobility policies. I’d be happy to chat if interested and get you directly in touch with the right people internally.

I would just like to take this time to tell everyone that no matter what your role is, or who you work for.. that we work to live, we don't live to work.

I understand that statement has some degree of privilege.

However when things are all said and done, a lot of us won't be worried about the extra dollars we made or an additional title we got, but what we were able to do with the time we had.

For those who were diagnosed as an adult can you provide some insight into how you were able to obtain a diagnosis. I went to my primary care dr who referred me to another dr who specialized in mental health. Is that normal?

I have an offer for $130k for a senior attorney position in a boutique L&E firm. Also have a recruiter who thinks she can get me into another for $150-170k. Both are more than I’ve ever made (Denver, 17 yrs of experience but completely different practice areas). Any tips for countering the $130k offer for more using the other potential offer while not risking a complete withdrawal of the current offer? I’ve never been in a position to bargain my starting salary so this is all very new to me.

I was recently (in April) fired from a good nursing position that I was at for 5 years. I reached out to my old ADON to get some information on where we had our vaccinations from and she told me that I should come back and the administrator that I had issues with is gone. Is this something I should even consider? I miss my patients and some of my coworkers and the pay is better, but I don't feel like I would really be welcome to come back.
