You do not want to this.
My tip is to not step onto the bottom of a ladder while it’s being sawed off.
If you ignore that advice, every step of the way you need to think like an entrepreneur and persuade the world you’re one of the best at this. Despite presumably having no experience at it— find a way to prove it.

1. Listen to CD1
2. If you choose not to listen to them I highly recommend you figure out what you actually want to do. Copywriting for an ad agency is a very different skillset than grant writing. Working in non profits is very different than marketing and advertising for brands.
From there the paths are very different.
In addition to what the previous two commenters have said:
Grant writing is the absolute opposite of creative. It is highly structured, bureaucratic, and obsessively detail oriented.
Non-profit jobs are also some of the most toxic and underpaid positions out there. Stay away, unless you have generational wealth.
You need to reassess your plan. Totally different ballparks and games.
You can go to an ad school like VCU, Miami Ad School, or Denver Ad School.
Would I recommend doing that in this current job market, especially if you already have a career? Absolutely not.
For some context on why not:
-if you’ve already started your career, you’re going to have to go back to an entry level 50k salary
-even when the ad industry was more stable, not all ad school grads got jobs. Plenty of the less talented or dedicated ones graduated to never work in advertising
-AI is threatening to take over copy jobs. Even people with higher level jobs than what AI can currently do well are already facing lower salaries from the increase in unemployed copywriters competing and applying
-the ad landscape has moved from and continues to move from more interesting opportunities like tv ads to things like marketing emails and banners, with fast turnarounds
-if you can overcome all that and become a copywriter doing interesting work at a top agency, you still won’t make a lot compared to other industries, your hours will be long, and you may frequently feel unfulfilled or frustrated (source: myself and a lot of my friends dealing with the daily/weekly/monthly uphill battles of getting good work sold internally, sold to client, and produced. Even when done well it’s draining)

On that last bullet point you’ll also get aged out by 40

Everyone thinks they can just easily become a copywriter. 🙄
