2016 3.5gpa fianance $17.95/hr +OT (38k-43kish) 8 years later I’m at 120k. I think i started off below average and should have been more like 50-55 now that might be 60-65? But after 2-3 years you can use your experience and hop to something +15-20% then again 2-3 years later. It took me 4 years to go to my second job from 50k to 60k+10 bonus. Then 1 year later 85k plus OT then 2 years to 120k now
I think I win for lowest lol.. Started in 2006 at 27k. That was and is insanely low for hedge fund sell side ops, but I was breaking in with a psych degree and told them to pay me what they thought was fair given I knew nothing and would learn on the job. I picked it all up quickly and within the year they brought me up to about 90k via bonus and raised me to an appropriate salary thereafter.
Only posting this to say, if you want to break in, it's ok to take a low number and prove your value. A good firm will bring you up to an appropriate salary quickly if you can do the work.
My first salary in 2015 was $55,000
Nothing has changed. My starting salary at PwC in 2022 was 61,000.
2020 $50k 3.5 GPA
Economics. 3.7. 60k in 2018
42k, 2016, MCOL, 3.7 GPA. I make over 4x that now so don’t get too discouraged. As long as the company values upward mobility you likely won’t make that much for more than 2 years.
$69k (nice I know😎) in 2021. HCOL city though
Finance, 3.7 General 4.0 Major gpa, 75k (regional bank)
2.9 gpa. 2018 44k
Now at 93
i graduated last year with a 3.7 and made 57k. its rough out here.
I graduated with a 3.7 last year and made 60. Now i make 65. It really is rough. But I guess we should all be thankful we have jobs.
2022 77.5k
2018, 55k
2016 - $140k
Solid
Electrical Engineering, economics, 2019, 43k, 3.1 GPA
To add commentary: I just took the first job at the only place I interviewed. It was a reputable firm and stayed ever since. Some people say to move around and honestly it is true for 90 percent of finance jobs. However if you feel valued and senior leaders have your back, then stay and grow within if you can. Currently on track to make 112k in MCOL area while the firm is paying for my grad school and have 31 days of PTO.
2018 HCOL $70k
Finance 2022, 3.7 gpa, 80k
2021 Finance 4.0 gpa, 62k
2017 Bloomberg, 65k: 3.6 GPA from state school.
Dropped out from college, worked as a banker starting salary was $55 k, worked my way up to being a financial advisor by taking the SIE, series7 and series 66. 1st year $170k and never below that since
GPA in the real world means absolutely zippo, particularly in a "everyone gets a trophy" culture. Companies hire based on what you can do and how you can add value to both the firm as well as their clients.
Exactly it’s not like sports where the fastest and strongest athletes get paid the most. With this degree You’ll get paid the same as everyone else in your hiring class.
