I was fortunate enough to be hired right out of college by Northwestern Mutual in Dayton. I have now been with the firm over 15 years. Is it perfect, no! Early in my career did I think about quitting, yes! But it has been one of the best decisions of my life.

Thus far it’s been an extremely impactful career that I has allowed me to build some cool relationships with clients and other team members at NM, allowed me to provide for my family, and truly have an impact on many clients lives.

One of the best pieces of advice I received is to avoid micro-managing executive staff (agency leadership), as it puts downward and unwelcome pressure on people’s managers and ultimately oneself. Based on your experience in the last 2 years are there:
- Agencies you would steer clear from because their leadership micromanages
- Agencies you would recommend because their leadership gives you room to grow
