Keep the job and continue looking. You have a consuming book, people will understand.
Consumer. You know what I meant.
Can’t blame you for that. I used to work in adland where I was paid $130k/year to make $350k TV spots that everyone saw. Now I work in-house and get paid $350k to make $130k online videos that nobody sees. Funny old world. Just make sure you’re not accepting “opportunity” and “potential” as part of your package. You need to be paid fairly if you go back, and I’m sure pharma is a lot more stable and generous than where you were before…
Take the pay check and keep looking. I know how you feel. It’s won’t be long before you’re back in consumer.
Be sure to add the pharma experience under a “freelance” section.
Gotta love that people still hate on pharma like it's lesser than consumer even though it typically pays higher. I guess selling sneakers is more fulfilling than helping people live better and healthier lol. The work is definitely dryer for creatives but is a huge sector of advertising and marketing that is slightly less volatile.
Second above worked in pharma the first 4 years of my career and I regret it deeply. It’s now hard for consumer agencies to take my experience seriously and didn’t add anything to my book worth being proud of. Also the “help saving lives perspective” is a little weak after working in it for so long. We basically help big pharma advertise for drugs that people who need it can’t afford it…nonetheless it’s not for everyone.
