Tata Consultancy I am a manager in Capgemini... have an offer frm TCS. the designation being offered is Assistant Consultant.. 9.8 years experience( 5 yrs with Cap) Even though I am getting a package of 25Lakhs.. it seems like a demotion in designation.. Cg has offered to match upto 23.5 lakhs.. Is it worth moving to TCS on this grade? My primary reason for moving out of Cg is i m bored of beauocracy and WLB at current project. Is it a good idea to still switch with the counter offer from Cg Capgemini Tata Consu

Always negotiate. This is something that I wish someone had taught me years ago. They always have room for wiggle room and the worst they can say is no.
Thanks for your insight! I will try to request more bump in my salary. If not, I’ll be looking to check the other aspects they can improve on the offer sheet ☺️

Companies are motivated to pay you the minimum amount you’ll accept to take the role. Once you make your salary expectation known, that is the exact target they will hit. You could try to squeeze out a few more $k if you’re feeling ambitious but I think your number is more or less set now.
You already showed your hand by giving them a number. The only thing you can do now is secure the second offer and use it as leverage to negotiate them up.
Agreed, I think you can push for it but they won't be happy
There is room to negotiate sign on bonus and vacations and WFH.
you already did, when HR asked your expectation and they met it
UPDATE: I requested for an additional 15% pay increase. At first they advised that they are firm on the offer. After a day, they informed me that they will be granting the additional 15% increase. I did really well on my interviews and have the necessary skillset and nice to have skills. Plus the role is urgent. I think it really depends on the situation.
Thanks everyone for sharing your ideas! ☺️
Nope. Stick with your expected salary. You can ask for a raise after 6mos or a year.
What if I negotiate the salary? Would there be negative repercussions? If not, I should look into other things aside from salary right?
It sounds like you already got the salary you wanted. Why are you still trying to negotiate it if they gave you what you initially asked for?
