Hi there, I have 3.5 YOE working for NHS Finance. I applied to Deloitte Risk Advisory, Public Sector (London, UK) and was successful. Waiting to hear back with package offer but it’s been over 2 weeks - was told they may offer M2 grade, any ideas what this is?
I’m also interviewing for Senior consultant role also at Deloitte. How much would this typically pay?
Torn whether to stay within NHS as I will be getting an internal promotion or move to Deloitte.

Deloitte experienced hires, who all received written offers and in process of visa/ onboarding, have you heard back anything about hiring freeze? Or recruiter asked you to delay joining date?
My visa got submitted couple of days back and waiting for decision. When I reached out to recruiter to give her an update and mentioned once there’s decision will discuss on the start date before putting my 2 weeks, she mentioned “Yes, we should talk before you put notice” - Am I overthinking? I was in a similar situation years ago with another consultancy. The recruiter moved to another role and the new person interviewed me again. It took a couple of months for them to come back with an offer but by that time I had already gotten another job.
My advise would be to not stop looking. If you get another job, take it.
Good luck
Thank you, this is really helpful
Must be due to economic recession and layoffs and slowing down of hiring
For what it’s worth I got the offer in the fall but didn’t start until the spring of next year
This was pre economic recession
Yep received actual offer letter within week of verbal offer which was immediately after my day of 3 interviews
I am in the same boat. I am hoping to get an offer in January. My hiring manager is not in touch with me. But, I call the recruiter every other week to get the status.
I was told that due to the recession they need to go through additional approvals. So, I am
waiting hopefully. In the meantime, i was asked to fill the secondary application with some questionnaires. I am being told that start dates will most probably be end of January, when they will know the bench status, new projects etc.
I was in a similar position with US a while back, took a few months of back and forth but I was hired. I would say keep your options open but don’t count it out if you are interested in waiting that long. You could also ask the recruiter for additional UK firm contacts to see if they have teams hiring as well. Your recruiter putting in a good word and letting them know you’ve gone through multiple stages already definitely helps.
I’m in a similar position. Verbal in July. Still waiting. Deloitte
One of my MD told that Deloitte usually takes a very long time - almost like 6 months. Is that true, because it’s a private firm and has to do all the due diligence.
