Everyone’s careers are at a total standstill right now. I think you should be counting your blessings, but don’t let it stop you from applying to other places as well.
And don’t let the thought of taking a job from an unemployed person go through your head either because you’ll be leaving a vacancy at your old job for someone to fill.
I'm aligned with this. I've been doing the same as well. If your career is on stand still ANYWHERE at ANYTIME (lockdown or not), look... also, look when you don't need to, so when you actually need it, your skillset is sharp and your interview skills are ready.

Don’t be so hard on yourself. You can be thankful you have a job while also actively looking for something else. It is not a standstill right now - there are places hiring. Granted, not tons, but the point remains that you still have choices.

You can try, but there are hardly any jobs in NYC right now so it might be discouraging. There’s nothing wrong with looking of course but it will be more difficult than usual. Personally I’d wait another six months so you don’t feel like you’re pushing shit uphill just to get an interview. It wouldn’t be reflective of your talent, just the current crisis.
If you’re working from home can u move and still work ur old job remote? And look in ny when you’re here?
