^^^THIS!!!
Years ago I did file a complaint with EEOC. It was the best thing I did. Just make sure you have all the evidence to support your claim. (Emails etc) Long story short, I was pregnant and they were planning to lay me off due to budgets. I asked if they couldn’t keep me until my due date which was only 2 months away. Answer was no. Next thing a lady came in to interview and I asked her certain questions and quickly notice she was my replacement. I also figure out she was going to be paid $1/hr more than they were giving me. I also reached out to past coworker who left and ask if she knew this new manager who was changing thing up. She quickly told me he doesn’t like smart women. I made sure to document everything in email and BCC myself. You can’t claim budgets cuts hire someone entry level and pay them more than the person that’s already there. Let just say I won the case and they had to pay me a years worth of lost wages. My case fell into multiple discrimination categories. I was able to do this because my mother ALWAYS told me to pretend that you don’t know something in order to find out more. Once I figured out everything, I started to communicate via email that way everything was documented and time stamped. Good luck on your case. You got this. The EEOC is going to be on your side it’s their job.
Thank you! Fortunately I have stockpiled 8 months worth of written records documenting the discrimination. I did call my employer to give them a chance to make it right. They gave me a different story than the day I was let go, so I feel like my case has even strengthened now that they can't keep their story straight. Just hired a lawyer yesterday. Thanks everyone for your responses!!!
Which state are you in?
I would get an employment attorney. Unfortunately l, this is regulate business for most contractors
I have the same problem where I'm at and HR will not help. I have no type of physical evidence. They tell me I can't go on trips because I'm a female.
Why do they think you shouldn't travel? My (hopefully) wrong answers:
Lady brains stop working aboard an aircraft.
If a woman leaves the office, the coffee machine stops functioning until she returns.
If you're traveling to the coast, your cycle may attract sharks.
I have consulted with two attorneys already, but I was wondering if anyone had any personal experience with filing an EEOC claim that they could share about the process. I have a lot of evidence, but I was hoping to avoid litigation and go the EEOC route. Thanks in advance!
I also consulted with attorneys , but if I won which I knew I had a winning case they attorney would get a big chunk of the money. The EEOC is free and they are in your side. You may probably get a bigger compensation with a firm but most of it will go back to them for payment. Good luc
In fact, every company is the same, and society is the same. Your work ability is the attitude of others towards you. There is an old Chinese saying: Birds of a feather flock together and people form groups.
I faced a similar issue and raised to higher levels in the company I was working with, nothing happened. I should have hired a lawyer, so I would suggest you do that!
I hope you were documenting everything because if not you may not have a good shot with EEOC. You may also need to have the other women testify as well and let me tell you when people's job is on the line they get really scary
Following — keep us updated! Good luck
UPDATE: I have hired an attorney and it's going thru the EEOC process. Since I've been fired, I continue to collect info supporting the wrongful termination. Yesterday, I discovered they were drafting and filing legal docs under my name fraudulently. My attorney said this process will take a very long time. Meanwhile, I'm out of work, broke, and it's Christmas. Awesome the way things work when you try to be a good person and do the right thing.
