Nothing new to them
They expect it dude. That's the whole deal.
I mean every engagement I know of was understaffed this year, and the new staff 1s are garbage, so maybe the “business model” isn’t working.
Actually AS1 that is not how the business model works. We need to bring people up behind us who are smart and good. People who become the partners when we retire. So we do need talented people who are well compensated but want to be partners That is the model that keeps the place going.

OP - Do you have names?
They don’t have to care; they just dump all the work to the remaining people and in their heads think they’ve already acknowledged the additional efforts (otherwise, why be there)?
Yeah they know because it happens every year 😂
So goes the public accounting wheel my friend. Turnover is just expected. If it gets really bad in a specific market my firm will typically ramp up efforts to keep people (e.g. retention bonuses, other incentives), but that’s the exception v the rule
