Additional Posts in Salary Negotiations
Im not searching for a new job but an acquaintance reached out about a similar role at a similar energy company.Turns out 2 ppl threw my name in the hat. I looked into it and the position was posted 2 weeks ago.Their director wants to meet.I bet pay is one of the first things to be discussed so that no one’s time is wasted.Am I crazy for not wanting to entertain it for less than 20-25% base pay increase? Is it selfish to ask for more? I’m sure most salary conversations end in negotiation anyways?
Hey! Any Google folks know if it’s possible to negotiate fully remote if a contract role is hybrid? Personally, I don’t want to relocate and go to the office on a contract role given the current economy. Plus, I’m assuming contractors are the first to go in layoffs. I just think it’s a fair trade off if I’d be allowed to work fully remote. I’m also trying to have flexibility to manage my Airbnb business in a different country. Same time zone as the home office if I’d travel weeks at a time.

I would go in prepared to advocate for why you deserve a good raise. I always bring in a list of accomplishments and achievements from the year to serve as my basis for the raise.
You can definitely let them know that you feel like you're being underpaid compared to your colleague who came before you. There's no shame in that; in fact, that's exactly what I would do.

I would pre prepare a speech or talk track that makes the case for why you deserve the raise and go in with confidence!
Go in with all the information, have your achievements ready as well.
