Anyone from Boston Consulting Group Boston Consulting Group (BCG) working in non-consulting - Technology/Engineering/Global Services?
How's the work life balance? Glassdoor reviews are full of "long working hours" and hence wanted to know if it's the same with non-consulting folks as well?
How far is it true across the organisation?
Please help me shed some light to decide.
Thanks.

Don’t leave before securing another job, but you should always leave a place that is affecting your MH. The cost ends up being much larger than we can think in the moment. Often your career opportunity is also halted in a space where your health is not taken care of. It goes hand in hand. Good luck on the next stage - you got this!
Uff, it’s risky because I believe we are just at the beginning of layoffs so you might find yourself in a position where getting a job will take 6+ months. Latest reports are signaling longer time to offer. Could you use your holiday time in one long go to get a break to test out if longer break would be worth the risk? Without a job secured often the ‘off time’ starts becoming less comfy when that timeframe gets too close. Just try to framework it in your head a bit, the ‘what ifs’ and ‘how tos’
Are you crazy, no
Now here's the bad part, would you be crazy to leave and go onto nothing yes.
You said your thinking of redirecting your career, that's fair enough and as they say a change is as good as a rest.
But are you thinking of changing career because of your current situation or because of a long standing idea that there must be something better out there for you.
Let's look at your issues singularly first and work from there. First a job or company change, do that, if you want to take time off then secure the job on say two months notice, work out a month's notice and take that second month to relax before starting the new job.
When you start the new job you'll be doing the same thing, give it 8 months in that job, to really understand whether or not the current career path is right for you, if after that time you decide it's not then you gave it your best shot and it wasn't the company after all. At least though you'll have a job and income and be in a better company while you figure out what you actually want to do.
