If firms go exclusively remote, I have zero reason to remain living near “home office”. Likelihood we’ll shift to that model, and can live wherever?

I've been thinking about this since March. Probably not going to happen (at least for PwC). But I would be able to afford a nice house in a different state...

Didnt President Bush keep Texas as his home address for tax purposes when he lived in the white house?

I think this is a hope shared amongst all us broke B4 peeps living in absurd cost of living cities. I think it’d be hard to justify our increased wages if we can live wherever. I think if we were able to work anywhere and choose cheaper cities/states we’d be hit with a cost of living adjustment.

That being said, I’m aligned to the Bay Area and would HAPPILY take a pay cut to not have to live in SF

My lease is up in the city and August and deciding what to do. On one hand there look to be decent deals on places in the city. Or I could cut my rent in half and have a sweet winter in Reno/Tahoe

Heaven’t read all messages. But i see the argument on states vs cities on cost of living basis...if someone is living far away from client, far from home office is considered off-shore. When it is off-shore, aren’t firms going to push for much cheeper places like Asia and central America?

How will student loans be impacted?

Those of us in HCOLA cities usually have higher student debt levels and demand a higher salary level to pay it back.

Hello Everyone,

My joining is on 11th July. I believe I have to collect the laptop from Camac street on joining date. But after laptop collection, should I WFH as the Technopolis office is not ready? Also, how much time does it take on first day for all the formalities? After laptop collection and formalities, I am planning to return to my hometown which is 250 km away.

IEP, 504, and those without internet will return in-person next week while rest of students remain remote. Regular Ed teachers may have students (mild Learning Disabled kiddos) in their room while teaching. They are saying it’s a liability issue if they have one student in the room with them, even though teaching other via Zoom. Thoughts? Anyone else experiencing this?

Home office preference question. I am getting ready to redo the layout of my home office. One option I'm considering would have my desk facing a wall. I am wondering if anyone with this current setup has any feedback about it. I would face the wall so that I would have a better background for video conferences (am on about half the day) and also my cord situation would be cleaner.

CA courts are still closed, and I’m worried I won’t be able to exceed (or even meet) my May goal after April.
