I got a call from DXC for senior Java developer position in Bucharest (Romania). They have mentioned a pay scale of 17k to 18k RON per month after tax cutting
If i got selected I am planning to move with my family.
Will there be any savings and what would be cost of living for a 3 member family there.

Does anyone here work for Silicon Valley Bank? They recently acquired Boston Private. I’m a candidate for a job at Boston Private. Wondering if SVB is planning layoffs in the near term at BP? Also, does anyone know the anticipated benefits to be rolled out from SVB as the parent company? Specifically interested in health insurance providers. Thanks in advance for any information! Lol at the "team player" people. You managers are the ones that people complain about on here. Seriously if Im doing real client work and it's not helping my utilization you are damn sure I'll be taking to someone
Threads like this make me grateful that I'm not at EY
Definitely charge the hours. Or at least some part of it. You know that EY do not encourage eating hours. Talk to the manager first and come to a mutual decision to charge hours. If not, speak up. Remember this will effect your utilization and performance and more importantly, I know people who were let go because of historic low utilization. Remember this can effect even years later if you are with EY.
What bullshit ey10...you must be a c or a sc with zero exposure to how decisions are taken
Seriously D3. So much ignorance here. The system is shit, do not get your head cut off by listening to HR
I don't eat hours. The partners don't have to Bill all the hours on the code, they are just responsible for explaining why they didn't bill it
P1 - the issue comes in when estimates for work are based off the hours billed on a similar project(s). Estimates cannot get better if that actual work needed is not captured as either billable or non billable. It’s a major cause of burn out when the entire team is working 60+ hours for 6 months
Suck it up and stick to the plan. Your inefficiency cannot be passed down to the client .
You are salaried right? Just started your career? Suggest you grind it out and build up some equity. You will be better for it in the long term.
Try your counselor
Better yet tell your manager to eat you
Op..hardwork is just one of the ingredients to a fastrack career in consulting...listen to what kpmg 4 sats..with you attitude you will be HR and talents favorite..but that's pretty much it...stay cozy with that extra util % while you lag behind.
I have this issue all the time with my reports. Do what you think is right, bill your hours, call HR, etc. But I just do not see how going against senior management will help you have a long lasting career, unless you do not care about the future.
I always know whether I’m out of hours because I’ve been slow or I’m out of hours because the job is underscoped. I view myself as a contractor - I’ve been hired to do a job in a set time. If I screw that up, then the responsibility for fixing it is on me. If you misrepresented how many hours it would take to do it, or you changed your scope, you’d better believe that’s on you. I don’t believe this is ever a shock.
If you can’t charge hours and if EY checks that you’re charging hours as expected when booked on a client, couldn’t you just be reassigned to another project that actually has budget? How would the current project retain you?
The only way you can earn any official credit is if you enter them into the time tracker. It's in ur best interest to have it documented. If u have to go above PM then be courteous and let him know you will 've talking to xyz. It's not personal, it's professional, is how I'd couch it. Btw isn't that against all ethic codes anyway?
K2 what a stupid response. Good luck with that.
Ok ey6 have fun going to an AML Project or not getting promoted because you called the HR hotline
To add to that, nobody is saying it has to be chargeable time. We are saying that it needs to be tracked as non-chargeable at minimum. "Eating" hours should only mean they are non-billable and doesn't count toward utilization metrics, not that they aren't recorded....
M4 - do non-chargeable hours at EY affect project financials? Or is it just a way to track utilization and truly get insight into how time is being spent? (I imagine to help forecast better for other projects...)
You failed my test op, shame on you
True, but if that's the reason they need to do better the next time. There's no motivation to do that if you force your staff to deal with all consequences of your actions. Partners here are greedy and won't hesitate to cut your throat for another 50 bucks in their pocket selling the blood. That's the only place it hurts anymore, their pocket.
