Hi all, recently in touch by Spotify recruiter for a Sec Engineer position for remote EU and was told that range was 60-80 out of base salary and equity. Had 2 years of security experience out of my 4 years. Was also told that there is no bonus scheme or no sign in bonus 😕 Not sure how I feel about this tbh.
What do you think?
Spotify
Disney Streaming Services I completed my interview process with DSS early last week, and was reached out by recruiter that all rounds were strong hires, and they are extending an offer. We set a time to talk on Friday about the offer. However, the announcement of targeted hiring freeze happened on Friday. I was ghosted with no call. What should I expect now? Would I still have chance to be offered?
Wanted to highlight Prudential Financial’s hiring practices. They rescinded my offer once I attempted to negotiate the salary. The official reason given was that I didn’t “sound excited enough”.
They then admittedly gave the offer to someone who was less qualified. There were other red flags throughout the job offer process that the HR team should overall be ashamed of.

Applying to jobs where you don’t have a contact or referral. It’s a complete waste of time.
Rising Star
I am 6 months into the job hunt and all interviews to date have been lended without a referral. Conversely the one referral I had didn't even amount to having a conversation with a recruiter, much less the HM.
I’m in the search right now and my biggest struggle is finding time to interview prep with a full-time job.
Wish I could just go on a month long sabbatical. So get started early, the process takes a while.
Nothing. I don’t know if I would want to go back to be honest. I think experience and certifications play keys in hiring but certifications won’t do you much good if you can’t practice what you’ve learned.
I used to interview candidates and I would ask 5 questions in total. 2 easy, 2 medium, and 1 that required more than just a straight answer.
That way I would know if what the candidate learned or retained what they learned and if they had been in the field a while, knew how to apply what they learned and had a combination of both.
I mean asking someone how to find the IP address of a machine and they tell you it’s usually on the back of the machine, I knew immediately. So preparation and experience play a huge roll.
I would run away from tech.
