I was in the final stages of an interview with Microsoft two weeks ago, in partner marketing. Then the recruiter told me they were putting the hiring process on hold to assess the need for the role. Well, then we heard about Microsoft layoffs last week. Seems like most were in Xbox and Project Alpha but there’s not a lot of information out there. Should I hold out any hope that I’m going to get this job? Any insights on how much these layoffs have impacted the marketing org and/or new hiring?

Trainings don't matter, timesheets do - prioritise accordingly. At least in our company it takes 30 mins per month max to fill in a time sheet.
They qualify as compliance (some trainings do). Timesheets literally translates into $ and your own utilization. Every consultant need to understand why timesheet matters, missed timesheets equate to delayed revenue. For a transactional business like consulting, missing revenue for whatever reason, is a direct ding on the partner. That’s why it gets drilled into all levels of consulting. Training- that depends on if it is compliance related…because again, your org leader will get dinged if their team is not compliant.
It’s like saying I’m a model citizen, I pay my taxes and save cats from the trees…but will I get trouble if I go drunk driving once in a while. Timesheets = money in consulting. It’s grounds for firing someone for poor performance or compliance (layoffs are done because of broader reasons). Repeat offenses after warnings will get you fired. If you miss too many, your performance rating will be impacted along with your raise/bonus
Both matter, and can matter a lot, depending on the company. But I agree with A1, if you can’t manage this (esp if it really matters at your company), you’re going to have a tough road ahead in consulting.
…and nothing else matters…
I have to complete them daily

…wut?
As a former manager/supervisor, I had zero tolerance for late trainings. Depending on industry, the late folks get escalated to executive management — and you not doing your trainings can affect their performance rating. Depending on your job, the trainings may be necessary for regulatory compliance.
If you’re dealing with something that’s affecting your performance explore taking a leave of absence.
