I’d rather quit than revise this agreement.

Absolutely do NOT tell your firm.
You haven’t been the first and won’t be the last to use parental leave to transition out of a firm role and you won’t be the last.
Enjoy time with your little one and tell your firm near the tail end of your leave.
come back for one week. then tell them. then leave. do NOT do it before your leave ends.

I wouldn’t not advise assuming that clawback is not an issue just because you’re going in-house. Please review your firm’s leave policy to confirm that point before giving notice.
You’re not wrong I’d just be shocked if they had me leave to a client or potential client on bad terms.
I just did this. I gave my two weeks notice the day that I came back from leave. They actually had me work the two weeks but only because some partners had saved some stuff for projects I was on prior to my leave. The work didn’t take long, and I collected two weeks pay for little work. My firm did not have claw back, but I doubt a firm would actually claw it back even if they did
Sounds like best case scenario 🤞 thanks for sharing
Facing the same situation now (except going to another firm that also fell in my lap). I decided I don’t need to explain why I’m leaving (going to another firm) and just plan to say “I won’t be returning” and give maybeee a weeks notice right before my leave ends (no clawback issues here) so I don’t loose out on pay. My fear is they say that my resignation is effective immediately based on being on leave and having no active matters. I plan to call HR and explain that I don’t plan to come back and ask them what notice they would like me to give my team. If they say effective immediately, I will tell my team HR requested that and I maintain a professional appearance
No clawback policy I could find for me either which is a relief. Let me know how the plan goes, good luck! Hopefully they won’t make you forfeit that last week of leave pay. In my case, I am close to the partners and want to preserve the relationship as best I can. Relatively small world in my practice area.
