After you give your two weeks notice, someone asks you what firm you’re going to—do you typically tell them?

Yes.

To clarify, why wouldn’t you? They can google it once you leave anyway. Why leave on worse terms?

like

If asked, yes.

like

Yes. The only reason why you wouldn’t is if you had reason to think they would call and say something bad about you that would change the new firm’s mind. That rarely happens especially not in big law because they don’t really care enough about you

like

I only tell after notice period ended

No, but there’s a shitty partner in my practice group who tries to turn everything into an opportunity for himself.

I've been at this job for almost 5 years now, and ever since the day I started, there have been problems with my coworkers. It's not just one person—it's everyone in my department, and they all seem to be working against each other instead of together. Should I leave?

I recently had a specialist partner send me a fairly nasty email after I (a transactional first year) was told to ask them to review something ASAP that had clearly been on my partner’s radar for over a week. Why am I taking the (honestly justified) blame for this? Surely it should be obvious that I’m just the messenger here.

You ever write a motion that’s soooooo 💩 that it’s embarrassing and you just wait for the partner to email you at 3AM saying “pls call me” because it’s too far gone for “pls fix.” 😩😩😩

Mid-level when she's leading the call: please make sure you take notes. It's expected of the person not leading a call (note I always take notes)

Me(jr): asked to lead a call for a different deal as training. Mid-level doesn't take notes (also on call) and tells me it's the job if the junior to take notes.

New job.
Moved from agency after 6yrs, into a startup (€8m Series A, high growth); first marketing hire. My manager is ex VC, seems to like managing by fear, let’s fire X, let’s cut the agency etc. sets tight deadlines & adds urgent items last minute. Others seem to feel I’m doing great but I am butting heads with him constantly about unrealistic workloads etc. Really not enjoying interacting with him, thinking about leaving... should I stick it out? I feel like I’m being abused, but need money!

Very Noob question: First year here that has done DD for a couple of deals representing the seller now. Essentially all I did was note whether certain agreements have change of control provisions, and if so, what the specific language is. I understand what the CoC do, but why am I doing this? Specifically, what does the buyer do with this? It seems like these provisions should trigger but nothing then happens...
