Disney Streaming Services I completed my interview process with DSS early last week, and was reached out by recruiter that all rounds were strong hires, and they are extending an offer. We set a time to talk on Friday about the offer. However, the announcement of targeted hiring freeze happened on Friday. I was ghosted with no call. What should I expect now? Would I still have chance to be offered?

No. I make more than that in salary, and it’s not enough with young kids. Continue living off your salary and invest the $250k annually for some years until the passive cash flows + inflation adjusted $250k is enough. Once you stop working for some time, it will be hard to get a high paying job again if you need it.
Dang when we were raising our kids (now 24 & 25) as a family of 4 we were making 40k a year. Even now we make less than 100k….if I could get 250k a year…I could live off half of that every year and invest the rest and live a great life!
Not only would I quit immediately, I’d spend the next year of my life actively discouraging people from taking my old job (or any in that department).
@PM2 -- Wow! Are such clauses really legal?! NDA clauses saying you can't share trade secrets or client/otherwise confidental info is one thing, but a clause saying you can't complain about the company? That is just wrong! 🤯
I would build my business for satisfaction and create new jobs and careers, plus take a really needed vacation since I’ve never truly had one.
Absolutely! Even after taxes, my household could thrive. I have a wife with cancer and 3 sons, 2 of which are special needs. We could do so much.
Not only would I immediately retire... I'd pick at least one person every year to change their lives for the better, maybe in secret. $250k is way more than the average salary and can comfortably support at least 3 families, especially in lower COL areas.
Absolutely

I would keep working in roles that can build my broader skills, but I quickly look to start something myself about 4-5 years in.
That way, I have 5 years of 250k bump in cash flow that I can invest in a variety of things and build a small kitty of seed funding (say 100k). Once that seed funding is there though, I do not want to put anymore of the 250k into it, because the moment I quit, I become reliant in this income for cashflow and to take care of my family.
After I reach that point, though, I'd take a long sabbatical before I start on whatever that insane new venture is going to be.
I would definitely quit and travel for a while.
Gone!!!!!! I would start a business and volunteer more often.
I would choose to use some of the money to find suitable investments and ideally build an income pipeline until I achieve wealth freedom, at which point I would consider traveling around the world
It’s 250k a year guaranteed… is that not already an “income pipeline” that would let you travel the world?
Hard yes
My first thought was sure, I would quit! Then again, I thought about the need for health insurance, and the ones on the Obamacare exchange aren't good enough for my spouse and my needs.
Humana's insurance is starting to become more like the ones on the exchange, anyway.
It would be a tough decision. I would probably not do anything for a few years, and I would invest the money and catch up on some deferred home maintenance. I might buy a new car, cash, too.
I have learned that when it comes to big $$$ decisions, it is best to wait and achieve a sense of calm vs. react with your first thought on the matter.
I would quit immediately and move to a cheaper and safe country and start a chill relaxed business!! Like a bed and breakfast in an old town
This question is too easy. Yes. Quit.
I’d quit at $100k. Maybe even $50k (have enough nest egg that combined it’d be plenty over my FI needs)
My total comp is slightly above 250k and I would quit if I could receive half of that. I would travel, stay active etc.
Ok just put in my 10 minutes. Do you need my direct deposit details? Or will you pay cash?
I would quit immediately, and move to Greece where I belong with my husband
Shoot I quit after reading this hypothetical post!!
A quarter million annual income is a pretty good life. I would still work as a volunteer.
I would quit in a heart beat. Then gain a sense of life and love for living again and find something where I have a true passion for and a corporation or industry won’t take away. “Working for the man” is the worst.
If you include during retirement, yeah, I would quit and try to do more volunteer work and start my own business in doing something I’d prefer (tutoring?)
I’m close enough so I’d retire altogether and still have pension, RRT, IRA’s and 401K.
