💭 If you were let go from your job tomorrow, what's the first thing you'd do?

1) check my budget and finances to see how I am going to get by.
2) remove all unnecessary subscriptions and be thorough about it.
3) Update resume and see if I can get a professional to review it so it's up to current standards
4) Think about what I actually want my next job to be. More of the same as what I just did or something completely different.
5) Talk to friends and family (network) -- Get on LinkedIn and update all that information and see what's available there.
6) If my finances allow, (which for 90% of Americans it won't) -- take a break from working to really reflect on where I want to end up.
7) Actively and aggressively job seek. This will include physically going to job sites, talking to as many people as possible and trying to by-pass the computer AI algorithms to actually have my resume' looked at. the Computer scans remove many, many very qualified people and thousands of people every month who should be getting interviews never have their information seen by an actual person doing the hiring.
That's what I'd do. Good luck to you.

Does anyone else constantly get mistaken for a nurse? I get it, I'm 5'4 and Black and work in pediatrics, but the assumption and casual racism is kind of ridiculous when the actual nurse has just told you that the doctor's coming and then I walk in the door. Doesn't really help when I'm one of the only Black on-call physicians. Annoying.

Not ready to formally go back to the gym or do fitness group classes inside (both from a covid mentality and feeling uncomfortable due to size). Bain & Company Contemplating a move from Accenture Strategy to Strategy&, or Monitor Deloitte. Part of my consideration is the assumption that WLB is likely to be better than at McKinsey & Company, Boston Consulting Group, or Bain & Company. Could any of you fellow European fishies shed some light on the validity of this assumption? Sharing experiences would be highly appreciated.

I currently work in Healthcare as a respiratory therapist for 10 years. I have been at my job, currently, for a little over 5 years. Alongside my bachelors degree I also have a masters degree in healthcare administration. Although, I am happy with my current position as a respiratory therapist, there seems to be not a lot career growth with where the department I currently work in within my healthcare system. I am wondering what doors/opportunities I have if I were to utilize my masters degree?

HR opinion: Do I have any leverage as a hospital nurse case manager in negotiating earned time? I have 15 years within the organization, left for 10 months to be remote during the pandemic while sorting out childcare as immunocompromised family helped. Now HR is restarting my ET as a new employee. I realize I left, but not on bad terms and I am an exemplar and respected employee. I thought I’d have the upper hand with the nursing shortage but I’m getting the “rules are rules” response. Help!?!
