Hello People,
I received a verbal offer letter from Oracle. I said yes and things moved on. BGV was initiated as well. BUT, Yesterday I received a call from the hiring manager that Oracle is putting hiring freeze, so they are not able to release offer letter as 1 approval was still pending from the VP. He said I will be contacted once freeze is over. Do you think I still have any chances of getting in once the freeze is lifted and how long the freezes are in Oracle ? Oracle

You say that, but for people from firms who need their first break into in-house, that churn sounds like opportunity!
I work in Houston for another big energy company. From the people I have known that worked for P66, comp and the work environment have always been considered mediocre at best. But to say that some folks weren’t happy but most were always looking for something else, not necessarily something better. That said, the midstream work might be more interesting with a better comp package than the refining unit.
I worked for a big energy company that “merged” with an even bigger one - the bigger was a nightmare and our culture was attacked, as were the existing legal staff. When people say its bad believe them, you do not want any part of it. Prayers, OP
Does P66 allow remote work? Where is their office in HTX located?
Whats going?
We might see significant changes to corporate DEI hires this year.
lol that they are a nightmare
Just to offer some different perspective - there are a lot of people (including myself) who do trust and enjoy working with our General Counsel. I actually love the direction our group has taken. I get the sense that some of the disgruntled folks who are complaining may be part of the larger group responsible for the bloated environment that led to layoffs a few years ago. The whole "if it ain't broke, don't fix it" doesn't apply when it is actually broken, and especially when you're a part of the reason it's broken.
The culture is strong and supportive, and the comp (at least at higher salary grade levels) is very competitive. Just my two cents, though. I'd say interview and ask people/culture-related questions to the people you meet with, and you can decide for yourself whether they're being genuine in their response.
To the original posters on this thread, how does the culture on the P66 legal team compare now to the culture about 6-12 months ago? Is the new hiring being driven by a growth strategy or attribution? There are still a number of semi-frequent legal postings and I’m considering applying if another M&A role comes up.
Thanks for the heads up. I hope it improves one way or another.
