No. Not a lot of difference so better to start 2025 with a lot of nights
Yes. You get a free night award if you get there. Wouldn’t use points though
Because the way to play this is finding the absolute cheapest hotel near you — ideally a Fairfield Inn-equivalent that’s ~$100/night. As long as you check in and check out, you don’t actually have to sleep there.

Marriott will love it. This is how the carrot of status works
You are looking to spend points / money to get a status as opposed to actually needing it
How cheap is the hotel you could book? I would do it for 20-25k points per night. Maybe even pay cash depending on price.
Booked a hotel for 21k points total for 2 nights!
There is almost no difference between the two, unless you travel outside North America. A "mattress run" would only make sense if you have a bunch of trips planned next year where it will matter.

I would do it if you can get something very cheap. Just because you get a free night certificate at 75 nights, so it’s only 1 night you’re paying for.
Titanium won’t do much in the USA unless you’re staying at the Ritz but is great in Asia
Upgrade certs that come with Ti are pretty good.
For 21k points total, I’d do it
I would even pay 2k for these 2 nights. The points multiplier for titanium is 75% vs. 50% for platinum. If you envision traveling a lot next year, you will earn more points!
If you don't already have United Status then it's worth it. Pretty sure Marriott Titanium still gets you Silver United status. But you've probably already got better airline status
Yeah I do have United premier silver status already
