4-5 years at EY... doesn't mean they aren't qualified or worked elsewhere (another firm) beforehand
@D1: kudos for owning up. You done uncle D proud.
I think D1 struggles with the concept of reading comments thoroughly
D1- are you not familiar with the concept of experienced hiring?
My bad OP. I did infact not read your comment
D1- I'm an experienced hire with 6 years in the industry. 🙄
@d our top performers out of MBA are generally APs (step before partner) in 4-5 years. Doesn't seem to have hurt our rep.
It's 4-5 years as a manager, dummy
Wow you make SM in 4 -5 years at EY? No wonder you guys have such a bad rep. Ripping the client off with someone who makes top dollar decisions with such little experience
D1 what do you mean? It's about 8 years at a minimum from Staff 1 all the way to SM 1
Look at the differentiators and make sure you are crushing. Are you selling $$$? Are you leading big teams?? Are you on highly visible projects? Are you helping your practice grow? Have you networked with the folks that make the decision at End of year discussions? Is your counsellor good enough to represent you? How is utilization? Is your practice too heavy?
Lots of variables to look at my friend , so focus on crushing the things u control and let your counsellor know you want to get promoted.
I usually have no trouble speaking up for my team but worry about sounding conceited when I do so for myself.
EY2 - I joined as a senior and was promoted to manager after my 2nd year at EY.
^^^practice too top heavy.
@D1 really wishing for a delete button right about now
If you wanted to go up I think you should have had the conversation at the beginning of the year. Tough to make any adjustments to a case at this stage
Mck that makes sense since we get Scs to do 2-4 years prior to making P. But 4-5 years out of school to SM seems pretty off to me
Ask your counselor "what do I need to do to get promoted?" If you haven't had this talk yet, it may not in the cards for this cycle (you would be an early promote) but sounds like you're in great shape for next year. If you've been getting 5's everyone knows who you are and so you can be bold.
Thanks EY4. I'm thinking next year. I just feel like I need to start laying the groundwork now for that.
But 4 years at M level is standard in many practices now
