Accentuate? Haven’t seen anyone being happy with being a manager. It’s a sh*t role.
EM1: wouldn’t agree with Accentures SMs being more like managers, if anything I’ve seen the opposite. We’ve hired a few direct to director and those SMs that are on MD track certainly carry more than some of our MDs at Big4.
We all have our own pace of career progression. You can stay M another year, and that would probably make you a stronger SM later anyways. If you are happy then relax.
Does your firm have mid year promotions because if so you could avoid going up this year then decide next year if you want it sooner (eg mid year)

I felt this way for a while. Eventually I felt better about promo and moved up.
SM is a lot busier. Omg.
As an SM, if you’re happy where you’re at, stay at M. It’s OK to move at your own pace. M to SM was a big shift (at least for me) and you don’t want to rush it if you’re not ready / your heart isn’t in it. You can delay the promotion and stay where you are, you can consider going internal, or look to industry. You’ve got options!
Or move internal outside or the up or out model. Could also move to a specialists/expert track depending on your firm
