I’m a 3rd year at small firm and since I joined 1 yr ago, I’m constantly asking partners for work on a near daily basis. We are being acquired by larger firm that doesn’t have my practice group, and I’m told I will be keeping my job and comp, and that our group will stay at the same. I’m 1) pissed I won’t be able to get bonus because my hours are too low and 2) concerned I could be let go by new firm. Has anyone experienced a merger like this? Do I plan to leave if workflow just doesn’t change?

Then I would look at this as an opportunity. Combinations are weird. Cultures meld, personalities sometimes clash, egos get bruised , etc. Being junior allows you to stay out of the fray. But you don’t want to be invisible. Attend integration functions. Make a point to grab lunch or a drink with your. Ew associate colleagues. NEVER badmouth the combination or any of your colleagues. You want to be seen as a friendly, cooperative, firm oriented person who is excited for the opportunities that the combination creates and eager to work with your new colleagues. Are there particular things that you’re concerned about?

Coming up on one full year at an ID firm. Feeling overwhelmed with my experience so far. I’ve received minimal training/feedback unless it was on something I messed up. It feels like the expectations don’t align with my level of experience. I have a case load of 45-55 with very little oversight or involvement from partners. Turnover is extremely high, as I’m the second longest tenured associate in the office. Looking for some guidance on whether this is the norm or not. Compensation is low 80’s.

Hi everyone,

I just graduated from my bachelors and I have received an offer for 3k per month (incl bonus) from Accenture in tech consulting (level 11), which was my top choice. However, I am not very satisfied with the pay so I wanted to ask:
1. I might also get offers from PwC or Deloitte, are they likely to pay more?
2. Is that enough to live a comfortable life in Amsterdam Zuid?

I have an interview for an in house position (only attorney) at a small non-profit focused on conservation easements. I am a transactional associate at a mid sized law firm. The prospect of freedom from the billable hour and contributing to meaningful work are the draws. The cons are that while the salary at the non-profit would only be slightly less than what I am making now, pay increases and opportunities for advancement will be much less than where I am now. Thoughts on making the shift?
