I'm a laborer. I've been with the same company for 19 years. I cross trained in every dept. I am quite the high achiever. I took pride in my job. I got hurt recently and had to be out for 3 months. I filed my paperwork as soon as I received it and called in with any changes and progress. I was fired for missing 2 calls. I wish I'd never moved to another district. I felt I had to prove myself again.

I'm starting to get worried about layoffs! What are good fields to carry or translate these skills into? Has anyone done so? Would appreciate any advice!

After you are stealth laid off, other than job search, what do you do? I assume they won’t give you work and even if they do, you can politely decline? How do you feel about you are not progressing anymore and seeing other people progressing in their career? I have no intention to make partner, but still feel a bit stuck not doing that much.

A couple months back, I had an offer for a BDR position that I ended up turning down but I really liked and connected with the manager. Is it worth it to reach out? Can a law firm in CA rescind an offer if background check reveals an omitted employment history? Worked at a firm for 2-3 months back in 2019 that wasn’t a good fit. Not fired but left to really drive my career in a better direction. I now have an offer from a great firm and scared background check will affect my chances.

Working for a senior who is beyond horrible. She talks to you like you’re stupid and makes it sound like you’re absolutely terrible at what you’re doing. She’s made 5 other associates cry during her 5 year career. Got someone fired and made another person quit. It’s known around the office that she can no longer have a female associate, because she talks down to females more than she does males. I came along and thought I could deal with it but she literally makes me want to not log on tomorrow.

Follow up post to my last post…My husband was laid off from the company where I also work. I am feeling really isolated / depressed about working and moving forward. I’m also getting to a stage where I’m really sad that people haven’t reached out to either my husband or myself to send well wishes or provide support. Hi, I'm an employee at a hotel chain who works remotely. I've been working remotely for over a year now and I love it! The company I work for is very supportive of remote workers, which is great.

But there's one thing that's been bothering me: it's hard to get feedback on my work when I'm not in the office. It would be great if there was some kind of system that let me know how my performance was being evaluated while I'm working on projects from home.

If there is a case that we have to quarantine again. Do you all think it is possible for store associates to work remotely? If so, what are some ways this could work? I fear another pandemic or outbreak and so many people being out of work again. I can't even fathom those that had jobs in retail that had little to no choice to not be remote.
