I’ve experienced this!

Hi fishers! I have offer and signed contract with Deloitte UK and my start day is in the beginning of April. I need skilled worker visa, and we haven’t applied yet for that. Screening and onboarding is in progress. Immigration team doesn’t reply since reached me out 1st time. How much time does it usually needed to go through the whole process? How many days take for visa to be approved since application?Deloitte

As an HR Director, you should already know the answer to this question... unless you want the fires from the bridges you burn to light your way ahead, that's always an option too

Don’t worry about burned bridges if you’re not planning to ever go back there and don’t need their references for anything. They can’t retaliate against you by talking badly to your new employer, or you’d be able to sue them if they did. And I’m sure that they’d be very scared of you since you are Director level. Usually when I quit I don’t tell anyone who my new employer will be, and I update my LinkedIn with a 6+ month delay (I actually put it on hibernate for a few months so no one can reach out or snoop that way). As long as you give the 2 week courtesy notice and follow a stealth approach afterwards, they’ll forget all about you. ☺️
More is always better!
Offer three weeks and let your manager decide if they want it. It’s nice of you to offer the extra time. They might want even more notice but you’re not obligated to provide it.

If you like the company or some people within it, then yeah you can give the extra notice, but as you know you don’t have to. And while you may feel good about doing it, it doesn’t mean that other people will appreciate it or remember it in case you ever need a good reference from any of them. I would stick to 2 weeks and have a vacation afterwards, but if it makes you feel better to give them 3 weeks, then do it for yourself. In 3 months nobody will really care, and in 3 years nobody will remember. So it’s more about whether you want to relax for a week in between jobs (which is always my choice! 😂), or be extra nice to the team that you are leaving behind by helping them out until they hire a new director.
I think you should just give as much as possible, especially if you're in the middle of such an important project. I'm sure they will appreciate the extra notice and more time is always better for them to plan how they want to move forward. Best of luck in your new role!
Thank you!

Extra week would be helpful and they can’t really term early if you’re business critical
Are you in the US? They can’t require a notice.

What state?
Our agency asks that someone at that level give 3 weeks notice. It's never going to be enough to hire someone but gives more time for transition. If they're not asking for it but you feel compelled to help out and doesn't cause hardship with the new company, I can't see how it would hurt.
If you think that two weeks is enough time to transition your work and wrap things up, then that's probably fine. But if you think that an extra week would be helpful, then I would go ahead and give three weeks.
