I’ve been doing this for almost 2 years and I still have days where I mess up a calendar or forget to follow up on something. But around the 6-7 month mark, I stopped feeling like I was constantly playing catch-up. It does get easier!
Honestly it took me about a year to feel truly comfortable and confident in my admin role. There’s a lot of trial and error in the beginning, but as you get more familiar with the processes, it starts to click. Don’t be too hard on yourself, those mistakes are just part of the learning curve!
What type of mistakes?
For emails, I always attach the document before I draft the email. Also, Outlook prompts a reminder that if you typed "attached" in the email body but forgot to attach it.
Speaking for myself, I really needed to slow down. The small mistakes I made came from not taking my time and going over things. Not sure what kind of company or environment you have, but if it’s an option to just take your time a bit more, that will probably solve a lot of it. Be kind to yourself too!

It takes me about a year to feel comfortable and confident. If I'm making small mistakes I have to start scheduling time to get up, clear my mind, and refresh. For me it's usually tied to being tired or stressed. As far as feeling like I know what I need to, I'm mostly good but going on 2.5 years and I still can't go a full month without having to ask someone a question.
