I'm amazed by how much bullying there is around that guy from D who hit reply all. The fact that D ppl give him such a hard time just says again that D culture is rotten

Please get off your MBB pedestal. There are bullies at every firm, we just have scale

like

From all I can tell there were dozens of people who hit reply all. So let's not lean out the window too far and shit-talk another firm. You should know better.

like

Most of the folks I have talked to thought it was funny. Any angst that people may have felt is justified when you get 300 plus emails in two hours related to the same subject while all client related emails were on hold for 8 hours. I see your point though

like

We are all laughing about it and talking shit. Get off yo high horse

like

Is it joking because 'it could have happened to anyone,' or do you think people really hate him? On the one hand, he probably cost his firm 25,000 person-hours in a single afternoon, but on the other hand, it was essentially a typo and the D Outlook server team should have had the email lists locked down before it became a company wide DDoS incident.

like

I'm with you BCG1. I never like shit talking another firm, deserved or otherwise.

like

I don't agree but to help you with your ability to cut the data down. Out of 300 replies, 250 + were non consulting. Not to say that they're not representative of Deloitte.

Point is that considering how efficient we are with the scale we have, you can continue to talk down and no one cares.

like

Hey at my last firm someone hit reply all and started the email with wtf

like

I disagree you are just having fun. How is the poor guy supposed to feel now? Are you trying to make him leave the firm?

like

That he made a serious doodoo, shake it off, laugh at his own mistake, and move on. Consulting is about learning from your mistakes half the time. This is no different

like

Bullying? Really?? You're truly pathetic if you think that was bullying.

like

100% agree! I tried calling it out in a post below, and it's not going well...

Yo mama so rotten!

I think it is bullying - absolutely. Individually maybe not but in aggregate it must feel pretty horrible.

There were hundreds of people who re: all. Their names on the reply all are shame enough for me. 😂

Take it easy OP. It's gallows humor from a ridiculous situation that everyone goes through. Hard to conclude that D is rotten because of it.

My fiancé just made Aliyah for med school. Long distance is hard but I love my job/firm culture. I wish I could stay, but I’ll need to switch to a firm that allows working abroad in a year at the latest. In a year, we get married and I make Aliyah too. I’m afraid to tell anyone at my firm. I’m also looking for American companies that pay well and allow employees to live in Israel. Thoughts? Advice?

Asking for a friend:
My friend received two job offers for Account Executive roles: a Mid-Market role with Confluent and an Enterprise role with ThoughtSpot. He’s conflicted because Confluent is a more established company, ThoughtSpot is Pre-IPO. Confluent is a lucrative product to sell and has established SDR reps so there’s a good blend of inbound and outbound sales. Thoughtspot is more of a startup culture where most of the sales comes from outbound and it’s a tougher sell.

Help!! My bestfriend is doing two months abroad and was trying to fly into turkey when they told her she couldn't because her passport expired within three months.

She went to the US Embassay in Athens knowing she had a month left of traveling, and gave her an emergency passport and punched holes in her exsisting one. Now no country will let her in with her emergency passport.

Can her mom get her a passport in the US and ship it to her? Is there anyway around this?

Thank you!!

I see a lot of conflation between state level and federal level policy in this bowl. I left Audit at a midsize firm to join KPMG erp implementation consulting about 6 months ago. So far they seem to only want to staff me on projects with a heavy focus on technical accounting and audit. Spoke to a lot of others who have left and seems like being pigeonholed or staffed on projects not related to the actual core work of the practice is the common reason. I've been on the fence about whether I should stay and hope to be staffed on better projects in the future or leave soon...

Hi. People Manager here. I've been one for 12 years now and I encourage my team to not be "yes" people. At this time, it feels like my manager wants me and my team to be yes people for her. How do I deal with this? I've never been a yes person and I don't preach this to my reports. I don't know what to do. Help?

Our firm told everyone no bonuses this year due to the pandemic. However, people like myself with high utilization received a “bonus” in terms of a gift card. My director notified me of this, but the other day my boss was mentioning how no bonuses this year really sucks. I was told by the director to not mention it to anyone but I figured if anyone knew I got one it’d be my boss. I feel super uncomfortable now because do I essentially lie to my boss because I’m not supposed to talk about it.
