I’m an 8th year project-finance associate at a biglaw firm (V20). Have great experience that spans both energy and infra assets (both on the development and financing side). I’m looking to make a move in-house at the end of this year or beginning of next. Looking for better work-life balance, as I’m finding my current gig increasingly intolerable in that respect—any ideas of the kinds of opportunities out there? I’m not in NYC.

Anyone have advice for advancing in your current role? My co-worker was hired in at manager level but somehow “proved” he was actually doing director level work and got a title promotion and salary increase in less than a year. I also went above and beyond my job as well (covering for him for a month while he was away on paternity leave) while taking on other projects outside of my job title and got zip—no raise or recognition. In my current company I think the development portion I've been given is kinda simple, I've asked my manager and seniors to level up my work and stuff, *which they did* but I kinda caught up.. now what should I do, should I ask them to level up again or look for better opportunities
Also, I had some Interest in CyberSecurity and I grinded it on my pre-final semester at Uni, should I try on that path as well or should I stick to development?

What exit opportunities exist for international arbitration? I don’t want to litigate, and am a non-American so government jobs (which seem to be what my colleagues are exiting into) aren’t an option for me. I don’t ever see myself making partner (nor do I want to), and I feel totally stuck.

I’ve been practicing in both big law (many yrs ago) and now in-house for over 10 years. Quite often I struggle because I don’t find work fulfilling. I’ve been in industries that allegedly have greater cause (healthcare) but was eventually disappointed by the corporate bureaucracy and went to a cutting-edge tech company for intellectual stimulation. Still I struggle. Should I try public interest? Not that I don’t need the money but it’s hard to work when I am so detached and find it meaningless

What’s the typical salary for a GC VC role? They indicated they would pay in line with big law plus equity upside. It would be their first GC outside hire. Curious what the equity percentage would be?

Had anyone prepared cover letters, elevator pitches, different resumes for non-legal jobs even if you aren’t currently looking to exit law? I’m worked on my elevator pitch and I think it’s really helped explain how my skills aren’t solely legal.
