Although Amazon has instituted a hiring freeze and layoffs are probably on their way, I went through the loop for a security engineer position at AWS. Before I attended the final interviews, Amazon placed the hiring freeze and called me to ask if I wanted to go ahead or cancel my application. I decided do go ahead Right now I'm waiting for their response and the position I applied to changed from "under consideration" to "no longer under consideration". Thoughts?
Has anyone interviewed with Amazon in the last 6 months. I finished my loop for a finance role. It’s been 8 business days and no update from the recruiter. I mailed the recruiter who said apologies for the delay but we will get back to you with next steps. Has anyone had this experience and what was the outcome Amazon

This is a little tricky and depends on the firm’s culture. You may be surprised about how supportive the shareholders in your current firm might be. At my first firm one of the junior associate in my department had a frank conversation with some of these partners about going in house and not seeing her future in big law. Everyone liked her, but we understood. One partner actually helped place her as in house counsel at one of our larger insurance company clients. I don’t know your firms culture, and certainly don’t want to be responsible if doing this causes problems, but consider being frank about going in house—they may be able to help you more than you think, and might even help place you with a clients. I’ve seen it happen more than once.
Thank you for your very helpful input!
And, from their perspective, you could also throw work their way if you get in a position to do so.
