I’m an associate who has been in my role for 1 year and am looking to change service lines. My plan is to get an external offer and then see if my firm will match, and if not, take the external offer. What is the best way I should apply for jobs? I still have a few recruiters contact information from college recruiting. Would it be better to reach out to them or should I be applying online? Reaching out to the recruiter seems like the better choice

Are you audit? Just reach out to the deals rotation inbox. So long as your AERTs don’t suck they’ll take you in this market…

It was aimed at audit professionals but risk is audit now so it might be applicable. Search the portal tomorrow for “Deal Advisory Rotation” and email the email address on that page expressing interest in doing a rotation.

What do you want from your career? You mention wanting to change service lines - does a specific area interest you, or are you just not liking what you do? You also mentioned accepting a counter, which seems like you don’t feel strongly about changing and just want a one-time salary increase.

I was able to transfer using an external offer without previously talking to them about transferring to that group

Don’t listen to SM1, they sound bitter. What exactly is it you want to go into? It would help to tell us so we can provide more precise advice

So you want to transfer to EVS. I think they are hiring in many places. I work with this team’s TP ppl a lot. What I saw is that the valuation group always loose people to banking/investment firms, so they tend to be I. Need of people usually. Can you just network with their team? Linked in search then network with them by calls. Then do an internal transfer?

Someone messaged me about the interview process for the M&A group at Deloitte and I accidentally ignored it… overall it’s your standard interview process. Few behavioral and a case. Case difficulty depends on interviewer but is usually (based o my understanding) a rather straight forward M&A case with a bit of a strategy twist.

I see a lot of LinkedIn posts about how we are all shopping offers and how this should be stopped. What do you all say? I feel like in case they feel it's a "crime", HRs should not proceed if we say I have a standing offer in the beginning itself. Only firms can poach people who join for lesser salary (even though market standards say otherwise) but we can't seek for better offers?

60M people need to be vaccinated. Offering them $1000 each would cost this country $60B. Realistically, you can get to half of that population — $30B. One booster shot for 250M people at 80% uptake — $200B. For $30B - $230B, we can end the pandemic in the USA. Worth it? Edited: add in $5M for an MBB to do this math and put it in a PPT for you. And $50M for a big 4 firm to implement, botch, reimplement.

I’m mid-level in my HR career at my current company and an upcoming Master’s graduate. Studying for my SHRM-CP too. How did you make the transition to that next level? What skills do you need, or is it really just based on YOE (I am the youngest compared to my teammates, many who have 10+ YOE)? I feel like career pathing is not very clear at my company. Each time I ask for guidance on this from my manager, I get told they’ll look into it.... would love some external mentorship and thoughts 🙏🏼
