3 hr 30 min just Incase
More info needed. Will you have status or class of service based lounge access? Separate or single ticket (hopefully the latter)? Time of year? (SFO can have extensive delays during bad weather and fog season) Related, is the inbound flight to SFO on a regional jet (more likely to delay/cancel) or a larger mainline jet?
Generally I’m risk averse with international connections as for some destinations a misconnect can mean a delay of 24 or more hours.
Thanks! Better to be safe than sorry!
1 hour 44 minutes should be enough. In my experience, you won’t need to fill in any claim forms or sorts in the layover city if that’s what you are worried about.
You can easily make it from terminal 3 to international
... They are connected via a walkway and you don't have to get out of secure zone. Even the farthest walk from 3 to intl would take less 20 min.
The terminals are connected by a walkway--15 min walk from end of domestic t3 to end of international so in theory if everything is on time you could make the flight with 1:44 and you will not need to reclear security. If it were me, I would do the 3 hours for more cushion and because I hate stressing on personal travel. International flights board an hour in advance and deboarding usually takes 15 min, so you are really working with a 30-50 minute connection which is risky for a 1x day flight.
And located right between T3 (UA domestic) and the international terminal
Live in SF. We are the most delayed airport on the west coast so 330 is definitely recommended. If fog rolls in your fucked out of your connecting.
Can I make it from terminal 3 to the international terminal (united airlines flights) in 1hr 44min?
The flight to Asia leaves at 11:30am PST
Yeah, I’ve only done one other international flight so I will probably go with the longer connection but it’ll be a long day
As for details, traveling in early May, traveling with SO, purchasing single ticket through United, both are United flights, working on a premier gold status match, and a 737 from the west coast
