Can we take leaves while serving NP?
I have a possible opportunity at Protiviti. Coming from big4 and wondering if Protiviti has fairly similar perks. I’ve read the 2022 benefits guide and it gave a oddly low PTO count of 16 days. Is this true and what about a holiday disconnect in the December time period? Are there any other hidden perks that are awesome? Already heard WLB is better and the culture, but I feel like I’ve gotta find that out first hand. Protiviti

Not wrong, but seems like that’s the only way to get unpaid time off and if you want the time off, you don’t have a choice but to submit some form of documentation.
You are not wrong, some employers are definitely a lot more overbearing than others and actively antagonize their employees without realizing it. Company policy is company policy, though; as long as it's legal, there's nothing stopping them from requiring you to jump through whatever hoops they want.
I would agree if you were talking about paid time off. You've earned that and it is for a specific number of days. Unpaid leave is more open-ended. The company needs to know how long you will be out and at least a general idea as to why. If you need to take an unpaid day off because you don't have PTO available, and it's an urgent matter, let your manager know just like you would if you were calling in sick. If it's a scheduled absence, it doesn't harm your privacy to tell them a general "doctor's appointment." Remember, the work week hours that you get paid for are not yours, they're the company's. They have a right to know how those hours are being used.
Nope.
That's the point....is this sort policy legal???
yes
You're not wrong. I don't feel like you shoudl have to prove what you are doing on a day where you aren't being paid. I can kind of understand if you take sick time and are being paid, they might require documentation but not for unpaid time off. I have never heard of such a thing
