I’m curious - for those of you who work remote for a company domiciled in another state, how do you manage the financial burden of being taxed as a resident of your state and as a nonresident of the state your company is headquartered?

Thoughts on states taxing student loan forgiveness as income ? I admit I don’t know much about tax law but I feel like it shouldn’t be considered income unless they’re sending out checks to everyone. 10k off the balance of my loan shouldn’t be considered income.

Does private debt tend to win over banks in rising interest rates environment? Will it compensate the overall decline in borrowing for private debt?

I just left my pre-seed startup that was running out of cash (we made $100,000 in revenue this year, and sunk $1m in costs). I was making $40,000 as a developer (plus 20k stock options at $1/share per year) and they refused to pay me any more money. I have 17,000 vested stock options, total number of shares at the time of my contract was 4million. I’m a bit confused about share dilution and if it’s worth it for me to buy some of my stock options… thanks in adv!

Here’s a point of reference on meme stocks for people who thinks it’s too late to get in or who think it’s close to peaking. Tesla: 948M outstanding shares; market cap: $837B. GameStop: 69.75M; market cap: $5.36B.

I just hit my lean fire number but am hesitating to pull the trigger, so was hoping to run it by people smarter than me:

- I have a few rentals that bring in ~$1800/mo cash flow, taxes are negligible, Capex incl.
- My paper assets will bring in ~$1200/mo at 3% draw
- I get free Healthcare at the VA
- No plans on kids
- My expenses haven't topped $30k/yr ever
- I could always reenter the workforce if needed (albeit probably not in consulting)

Please point out the flaws here, what am I missing?

I ask because I’ve let my credit spending get a bit lax since moving and adopting a puppy recently, so I haven’t been paying them off in full every month like I used to (though still well above the minimum payment, and keeping utilization at 30% or under). I’m considering a less sales-oriented role that doesn’t pay commission. The new role will have a higher base but lower overall earning potential.
