I’m currently on a Secondment at a PE firm (100% utilized, 6-9months) and my partner still asks me to help out with BD/sales at EY. I’ve said no several times and now she’s becoming demanding. How should I navigate through this? Still wanna maintain a good relationship with the partner and EY, but been so close of just hanging up the call several times.

I am curious how other inclusion teachers are being utilized when the school is doing remote learning. I find that I am sitting in the zoom class and have very little opportunity to contribute. I am having discussions with my teachers on ways that I can better support them and the students when remote.

What is your understanding of the norms around whose names end up on a brief/complaint/motion papers etc.? I’m a midlevel at an AmLaw 20 firm and have twice been the principal drafter of something only to be cut from the signature block. The associate senior to me is on it despite having done far less of the work. And it’s not because it required a rewrite or something. The filed product is 80-90% my work. At what point do you fire a client? I have a 49 yr old client w/drawing $50K out of a $72K IRA (trad) to “pay off her home”, a move I completely disagree with/advise against.

How do you deal with a challenger type of personality? I’m fairly new and I know the senior is trying to teach me the thought process. But she also makes me feel extremely small by the way she phrases her questions. I’m already stressed out not having everything figured out yet and this makes me feel super tense and down.

- They promote you up a level, you see your new shiny salary and title
- End meeting
- Get a DM to meet with manager the same week
- Get told that your title was “a mistake” and that you would keep the salary and but not the title. Due to a communication with upper leadership.
- 2 months later your title updates in Messaging channels and with HR with the leveled up title.

I was promoted to manager in July 2020 (3,5 yr of experience). Currently preparing for YE but honestly, I couldn’t care less - what motivates one to push for SM promotion? Not my case atm, but wanted to hear what motivates ppl to keep going as I don’t feel like it’s worth it.
