I'm going to put braces at 25 this Tuesday. Any tips? Should I be worried about appearances after WFH?

Gf just got them at 27. She has no idea how to act, so the only tip I can give(which we talked about): don’t worry so much about what they look like, either no one cares or people are happy you are making a change to better yourself. I’ve never seen a bad reaction to braces from someone over 12 years old

like

I had them at 22 for two years, are you getting Invisalign or old fashioned braces? My only comment is: dating can be harder if you let your confidence dip, clear braces give appearance of nasty stuff caked on your teeth, and wear your retainer because your teeth will shift back to their original position. Otherwise, go for it!

like

Old fashioned braces. My boyfriend is encouraging me to get them actually. He also recommended getting the old ones instead of invisalign since they are more effective and he doesn't care (he had braces previously too.

I'm getting mine because I feel dislocated when with him, he has such a beautiful smile lol

When I notice them on people who are older (20+) i might stop for a split second but I’ve never cared. If anything, kudos to those people wanting to look better.

Nobody cares! :)

Just do it :) the earlier you get them on, the quicker you can get them off. People shouldn’t judge you, and if they do ignore them. Just remember that the braces will be temporary and once you get them off you will be so happy you made the decision to get them.
Good luck!

When I notice them on older people, I give them a mental high five for boldly doing something about something they're concerned about, rather than letting it eat into their self-esteem. Go for it. You don't live for others' opinion of you.

My dad had braces at the same time I did! I was 14 and he was 46. Never too late!

like

I’m almost 40 and thinking about getting them. It’s now or never!

Nahh no one is going to care. I had mine at 21 for 2 years. However on the other hand just a few things; you can’t eat apples you have to cut them up, no corn in the cob, you get the idea. Kissing might hurt a little until you figure out the whole pressure thing. Your teeth are going to hurt once a month when they replace the wires and tighten them down. AND the most important thing to remember is to brush your teeth! Nothing worse than seeing a person with braces with food hanging around, red swollen gums and nasty smelling breath!

Consider Invisalign, candid, smile direct...

I just had it for about a year. Much more low key. Lots of people have commented that they don’t even see them and you can remove if needed.

And I’m 32 😁

I went with candid. Result have been good (though customer service was horrendous), but you really do need to commit to 22/23 hrs a day. Candid has some store fronts. You can go in, get a scan, and they will send your aligners in the mail. Candid was $1900...though I only paid $200 out of pocket since I never had ortho before.

I always liked my smile, even before straightening my teeth, but lots of my friends have noticed and complimented...

Give it a try!

Nobody cares. You'll look great after you get them off!

Seems like hiring has slowed down but i feel we are in for another bout of great resignations due to companies calling it's employees back now and employees finding ways to continue WFH. The ones who get lucky continue WFH while not so lucky ones will start switching and startups and other mid level companies cashing in on the talent. Looks like it's the lull before the storm.

I have family members who are inside claims reps for a large company. The company sends out emails 4 times/day showing who is currently not available for calls. Sounds at least toxic.
